In-person and virtual participation
TDWG 2023 will be a hybrid conference with in-person and virtual participants. All participants, including presenters, must register.
In-person registration includes: the welcome reception, coffee/tea breaks, lunch on session days, and the conference dinner. Excursions on Wednesday may entail an additional charge.
Both in-person and virtual participants will receive a login to the conference platform and will have access to live streamed presentations as well as session recordings as quickly as we can get them posted (we hope within 24 hours). Note that all sessions will be recorded. Virtual participants will be able to present any accepted contribution live, but it is vital to note that the time zone shift may mean that your presentation will be scheduled in the midde of your night. We will be unable to give all virtual presenters times that are convenient. Virtual presenters will be required to submit a pre-recorded video to serve as backup should a network problem arise.
Chat and message functions will support interaction among all participants.
Categories
- TDWG members receive a discount on their registration fees approximately equivalent to membership dues (AUD$110). Institutional members may take the discount on up to five (5) participants. Discount codes have already been mailed to individual and institutions who have paid dues in 2023.
- Non-members pay the full registration fee, but may opt-in to become a TDWG member for 2023. (See benefits of TDWG membership.)
- An early-bird discount (AUD$75)is available until 18 August.
The following categories of participants receive even larger discounts on registration fees.
- Post-docs and retired professionals
- Students, both undergraduate and post graduates
- Participants from lower-middle and low-income economies (See list.)
(The early-bird discount is not available to the more heavily discounted categories.)

Cancellations
- Cancellations for in-person attendance, with full refund (less transaction fees) can be made up to 22 September 2023
- After 22 September, we encourage in-person participants who are unable to travel to switch to be a virtual participant. A refund of the difference between the in-person fee paid and virtual attendance will be offered (less transaction fees).
- After 2 October, in-person participants who are unable to travel are still encouraged to switch to be a virtual participant. No refund will be offered after 2 October as final numbers must be provided to the conference venue on that date.
- In-person no-shows with no correspondence will not be refunded.

Substitutions
- Substitutions of participants are allowed at any time before Monday 9 October 2023.
- Substitution of a presenting author by an alternative person (usually a co-author) is allowed up to Monday 9 October 2023.
